Wabash Ride N' Camp (Overnighter)

  • Ponderosa Cyclery + Tour 4011 Farnam Street Omaha, NE, 68131 United States (map)

Our first ride n' camp of the season (they'll be monthly from here on out). Heading to Malvern, IA via the scenic Wabash Trace. 35 moseyin' miles (70ish trip total). Late-lunch stop in Mineola (probably Tobey Jack's), rollin into Boehner Park (Malvern City Park) before sunset (7:34p). Setup camp, food/dinner over the fire, then possibly head into Malvern for some hangs at an establishment. Dinner cooked at camp, so bring what you need for that. I'll probably make some couscous and toasted tortillas for those interested. Breakfast and coffee over the fire/in camp, then hitting the road back to Omaha. Might do an alternate/gravel route on the way back, depening on what everybody thinks. Meet at the shop around 1:30pm (on Saturday the 18th), rolling at 2:00pm. As always, this is a non-supported/at your own risk ride, but we're here to inform and get you setup for success. Bring plenty of snacks and water, but there will be a few stops along the way for refills on both. There is no cost for the ride/event, but bring $5 for camping fee and $1 per day for use of the Wabash ($7 total). And bring some cash for Mineola/Malvern if you plan to partake in the festivites there. Tire size of 32mm or greater, as we'll be riding crushed limestone and gravel. GPS route coming soon.
